Ukrainiac: It is a small world! While we were there, I read in the Columbus Dispatch about a new CD/DVD audio book of all the Indian Mounds in Ohio. The article was about using listening to the audio while visiting a bunch of the sites. I think the article got lost in our packing and unpacking, but if I find a link for it, I will let you know. It sounded really great.

Jayne: That's a riot that we did so many of the same things. Igor is still talking about the horrible bathing suit, by the way. And for all his raving about "natural" foods, I did find it ironic that the one thing he liked best was probably the least natural - the steaks, chock full of antibiotics and god-knows-what else. I mostly liked how much easier so many things were to do, and how nice people were everywhere - smiling, polite, helpful. I miss that in living in a big city.

Geesh, we had the same vacation as you almost in the USA: my grandmother presented Stefan with a huge bag of quarters, which he had to sort out (if I threw it, I could have killed someone), we had the swimsuit conversation (Stefan also doesn't get the American swimsuit thing, but will convert once we move), we both got SICK of driving everywhere and people looking at us strangely when we chose to walk, AND we went to Angel Mounds, which sound very similar to Serpent Mound. Scary! But... I did love the food sooooooooo much more than here in Germany....

How much fun to read about your experiences in OHIO! Our family used to have family reunions at Ft. Ancient in Warren County. Small world, eh?

We hope to get our new son-in-law to the States so that he can meet his relatives, and will be curious to hear his comments about American culture and life.
